This Cookie Policy explains how necclife.org uses cookies and similar browser-storage technologies. The short version: we do not use advertising, analytics or tracking cookies. We use only a handful of small, essential storage items that make the site work better for you.
1. What are cookies and browser storage?
Cookies are small text files that a website places on your device. Similar technologies include localStorage and sessionStorage, which let a website save small pieces of information in your browser. “Session” storage is cleared when you close the browser tab; “local” storage remains until you clear it. These technologies can be used for essential functions (like remembering a preference) or for tracking (like advertising profiles). We only use them for the former.
2. What we use
The Website does not set any HTTP cookies of its own. It uses the following browser-storage items, all of which stay on your device and are never transmitted to us or to third parties:
| Name | Type | Purpose | Duration |
|---|---|---|---|
necc_cookie | localStorage | Remembers that you dismissed the cookie notice so it isn’t shown on every page. | Until you clear browser storage |
necc_modal | sessionStorage | Remembers that you closed the “Live Stream” welcome window on the home page during this visit. | Until you close the tab |
necc_form | sessionStorage | Temporarily holds the type of form you sent and your first name so the thank-you page can greet you personally. | Until you close the tab |
necc_plan_starter14 | localStorage | Saves your progress in the 14-day Bible reading plan tracker. | Until you clear browser storage |
Because these items are strictly necessary for features you choose to use, and contain no tracking identifiers, they do not require consent under most privacy laws. We show a notice anyway, because we believe in transparency.
3. What we don’t use
- No Google Analytics, Hotjar, Google Tag Manager or other analytics scripts.
- No advertising or retargeting cookies (such as the Facebook Pixel).
- No embedded social-media widgets or third-party video players that set cookies when a page loads.
- No fonts, scripts or styles loaded from third-party servers — all website files are served from our own domain.
4. Third-party sites
When you click a link to another site — for example Facebook, Instagram, Google Maps, or a social-sharing button — you leave our Website. Those services may set their own cookies according to their policies. We encourage you to review the privacy and cookie policies of any third-party site you visit.
5. How to control or delete storage
You can clear cookies and site data at any time through your browser settings. Clearing data for necclife.org will reset the items above (for example, the cookie notice will appear again and your reading-plan progress will be cleared). Helpful guides:
- Chrome: Settings → Privacy and security → Third-party cookies / Site data
- Safari: Settings → Privacy → Manage Website Data
- Firefox: Settings → Privacy & Security → Cookies and Site Data
- Edge: Settings → Cookies and site permissions → Manage and delete cookies and site data
You can also browse in a private or incognito window, in which case storage is discarded when you close the window. The Website will continue to work if storage is blocked; only the convenience features above will be affected.
6. Changes to this policy
If we ever introduce new cookies or storage items — especially any that are not strictly necessary — we will update this policy and, where required, ask for your consent before using them.
